The
plains of the province have a high human presence. Cultural vegetation
dominates almost all the landscape of the zone: towards the northwest,
the center, south, and sub-littoral
areas one can find agricultural crops, sugar cane, pasture lands,
and secondary vegetation.
Natural vegetation is represented by perennifoliate woods, typical
of marshlands, located to the north of the Laguna de la Leche.
Wild flora is typical and associated to marshland and mangrove-tree-community
vegetation. Towards the north one can find the jata guatacuda palm
(Copernicia rigida) of up to 6 m (20 ft) of height. The flora of
mangrove-tree communities is very well preserved and rich in wood,
industrial, and melliferous resources.
